FREDDIE MERCURY, JIMI HENDRIX Top Supergroup Poll
July 27, 2007According to Virgin Media, Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John and Phil Collins would make the perfect rock and roll supergroup, according to a poll of music lovers.
Over 2,400 music fans were asked by O2 to vote for their dream supergroup, which would comprise Freddie on vocals, 37-years-dead Jimi picking up a guitar once again, flamboyant piano-man Elton and GENESIS frontman Phil on drums.
The second most popular supergroup featured singer-turned-activist Bono taking the mic, blues supremo Eric Clapton on guitar, soul superstar Stevie Wonder on keys and Beatle Ringo Starr drumming.
"This would be one amazing gig although you can't quite see all these iconic figures sharing a stage together," said Amanda Jennings, Head of Sponsorship and Interactive Partnerships at O2.
"The opening season at the O2 will see performances from some of the world's greatest acts including Prince, Barbra Streisand, the ROLLING STONES and Elton John. We thought it would be interesting to see who our customers thought would be the ultimate dream act to play at this great venue."
